Sam liked mornings. He liked his warm cup of milk. But today was not a normal morning. Today, Sam found something surprising on his street.
Sam woke up early on Saturday morning. The sun was warm and bright outside. He ate breakfast with his mom and dad. Then he put on his red shoes. He walked to the park near his house.
On the way, Sam heard a small sound. It came from behind a big tree. Sam stopped and looked behind the tree. A small brown dog sat there alone. The dog looked scared and very hungry.
Sam smiled at the little dog. He said, “Hello, little friend. Are you lost?” The dog wagged its tail happily. Sam gave the dog some bread. He had bread in his backpack for lunch. The dog ate the bread very fast.
Sam looked at the dog’s neck. There was no collar or name tag. Sam felt worried for the little dog. He decided to help the dog find home. Sam picked up the dog carefully. He carried the dog to his house.
Sam’s mom saw the dog and smiled. “We can help this dog,” she said. They made colorful posters together that day. The posters said “Lost Dog Found” with a photo. Sam and his mom put posters everywhere. They put posters near the park and shops.
That evening, a phone call came. A woman spoke with a happy voice. She said, “That is my dog, Buttons!” The woman came to Sam’s house quickly. Buttons ran to her and jumped happily. The woman thanked Sam for his kindness.
Sam felt proud and very happy. He helped a lost dog find home. The woman gave Sam a big smile. “You are a hero,” she said warmly. Sam smiled back and waved goodbye. It was the best Saturday ever.
